Happy New Year!
I’m all for making resolutions at the start of the new year and working hard to stick with them. I love personal growth and am always looking for ways to challenge myself and become a better me.
However, this year I’m just not feeling it. I haven’t thought of a single resolution and every time I try to think about it I get distracted. So I’m not going to force it. There must be a reason that I’m having a lot of resistance around this annual practice I love so much.
It could be the fact that I’m going to have another baby in two months and I know that I won’t have much time for anything else. Between a newborn, a toddler, a house to manage, a husband to love and a business to grow I think I’ll be in pure survival mode.
I don’t see there being many opportunities for me to sit down and consciously work on my growth and improvement in 2018. That doesn’t mean that growth can’t come from survival mode, it just may not be at the top of my priority list. I know there will be moments of joy, love and excitement along with exhaustion, frustration and chaos. And hopefully I’ll be able to embrace it all.
Since I won’t be wasting time writing out resolutions, I’ve decided to instead reflect on the past year and all that it brought with it. 2017 wasn’t the easiest year and I watched a lot of people I love struggle in different ways. Yet, there were some amazing times and lots to be grateful for.
One of the things that really blossomed for me in these past few months is my relationship with you all. I want to thank you so much for being a part of the Sideways Approach community and for supporting all that I do. I appreciate you taking the time to read these heartfelt emails and for all of the positive feedback. I love hearing from you and engaging in various ways.
I hope as you reflect on the past year and plan for the next that you’re reminded to keep self-reflection and awareness in your daily life!
To kick the year off right I’ll be posting fun, free challenges for you to try on the Sideways Approach Facebook page. Each challenge is meant to bring awareness to a specific part of your life.
